I have loved how successful many of my students with Autism have been using the TEACCH system. Teacher websites have been such a life line for ideas for work boxes so I decided to post my activities to help others with ideas.

Reading Comprehension Tasks
The following task a made to promote visualizing text. The student read a number of sentences. For each sentence he/she must create the scene. There are a number of named characters that I made into stickers using "Tack it Over and Over." The student picks the appropriate background and makes a visual of the sentence. An example being "Jill and Jack are about to buy apples." So the student would take the Jill and Jack character and put it on the store scene next to the apples. As the student works with it you can gradually make the sentences more difficult and add characters such as pets, or add people dressed in outfits that define a job.
This I got off of teachers pay teachers that was created by a speech therapist Karen BerKowitz. I have two work boxes I created from the packet called Describe it to Me. This is a bingo game that has a description card and a bingo card with pictures in a certain category. In my work box I have a bingo card a number of description cards directions and a white board marker. The student reads each card and then circles the correct picture on the bingo card from the discription
